Miller Receives Prestigious Scholarship!

Reagan Miller signing letter of Intent

Surrounded by family and fellow band members, Vidalia senior Reagan Miller recently signed a letter of intent for the prestigious Gates Scholarship at Berry College in Rome, Georgia.

The scholarship worth more than $200,000.00 will allow Miller to work toward his goal of one day returning to Vidalia and work with current Band Director, Dr. Beth Taylor. “I want to come back to the community and work with Dr. Taylor because she is a wonderful band director,” Miller said. “It will be an opportunity to give back to the community who has supported me.”

Miller, who found a love for music from watching his brother play in the band, picked up a trumpet in band class when he was old enough and committed to hours of practice and academic excellence to reach this point. Reagan says that he is “very thankful for the support he has received through the journey.”

In her first year as VHS Director of Bands, Dr. Taylor said she is proud of Miller and his achievements, “I’m very proud of him,” she said. “He’s worked hard to get this scholarship, and I’m excited that he wants to come back and teach music and band to the next generation.”
